Gary Blakeslee, President
Multifamily housing can be simple, but not at significant scale. A large-scale, urban multifamily property involves highly complex challenges in the pursuit of optimizing real estate and profitability. Great real estate involves a co-mingling of science and art. Gary passionately embraces both.
Throughout his 19 year career, Gary has been privileged to work for regional and
national leaders such as AvalonBay Communities, Harbor Properties and Opus. During this time, his greatest satisfaction has come not from the excellent properties he’s helped build, but from his collaborations with gifted designers who artfully illustrate the vision for these properties, and his leadership to skilled contractors who embrace a disciplined approach to executing that vision.
Gary’s multifamily experience involves over 3,000 residential units, including both
new construction and repositioning. His scope of responsibility has ranged from
management of the design, permitting and pre-construction phases, through construction management, marketing and sales. His
product type experience ranges from garden-style apartments in suburban communities to complex mixed-use developments in urban cores.
Gary earned a Construction Management degree from California State University at Fresno, is a licensed
real estate broker and a member of the Urban Land Institute.
Chris Copland, Vice President
Great real estate development and construction management always involves the good ideas and efforts of many people in collaboration. Managing or controlling chaos under stressful conditions is also common to excellence in these areas. Having recently retired from 20 years of leadership in the Bellevue Fire Department, Chris has found that his resulting character and interpersonal
skills have transferred extremely well to his second career in real estate. In addition to leading battalions through life-threatening conditions on the front lines, Chris served various management posts such as Community Information Officer and Facilities Management Officer. Outside of his fire department experience, Chris also invested in multi-family real estate for his own account and offered
general contracting services.
Most recently, Chris is credited with the recovery of construction operations at Tobira, after progress
was stalled by the contractor’s default. Through his triage-like approach to reorganization of crew
assignments and materials management, the project was successfully completed on-time and on-budget.
Simultaneously,
Chris handled new homeowner interfaces with exceptional professionalism and service.
